Hello students and parents. My name is Karen Knight, and I am the High School English teacher at the Opportunity Center. This is my first year teaching in Pascagoula-Gautier School District, so let me tell you a little about myself. 

 

I grew up in the Meridian area and attended USM where I received my Bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in English. I worked as a reporter and photographer as well as several jobs at Silver Star Resort & Casino in Philadelphia, MS before becoming certified to teach. I have been teaching 6 - 12 grade English and reading for 16 years. 

 

I am the mother of a 21-year-old daughter, Aryn, and 3.5 year old son, Kyrian. I am also the grandmother of a 1-year-old granddaughter, Kayori. I live in Ocean Springs with my son and have been living there since 2012.
