Today, we pause to reflect on a day that forever changed the Pascagoula-Gautier School District and our coastal community 20 years ago.

On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina brought unimaginable devastation. The storm damaged and flooded our schools, homes, and even War Memorial Stadium, turning classrooms into chaos and neighborhoods into debris fields.

These images, captured in the aftermath, remind us not just of the destruction, but of the resilience that followed. Our educators, families, and students came together to rebuild, heal, and rise stronger than before.

To all who lived through that storm, who lost, who helped, and who rebuilt: we remember you, we honor you, and we stand united in the strength that defines PGSD.
